ABSTRACT
In this article we seek to highlight the functions of continent and transformation that images have. Our starting points are Tisseron´s texts, na author who is interested in the study of the role of images in the construction of identity. On one hand, for the baby, the image is a psychic envelope which contains him; on the other, transformations in his internal world are made possible through the construction of images. We consider that Eros, as a force that unites, accomplishes this work of transformation and symbolization. A secret transmitted through generations can inhibit this symbolization process. By making up images, the subject initiates an elaboration process in which he tries to objectify the mental contents that are strange to him, introjecting them and causing a psychic transformation. In order to illustrate this point, we utilize the hypothesis pointed out by Tisseron regarding the cartoons created by Hergé, in the books The Adventures of Tintin.
