Eros no século XXI: Édipo ou Narciso? / Eros in the 21st century: Oedipus or Narcissus?

RESUMO

O presente artigo parte das dificuldades que a clínica psicanalítica tem enfrentado na condução do tratamento de diversos tipos de perturbações psíquicas expressivas da atualidade. Objetivando um maior esclareci- mento sobre tais dificuldades, começamos por uma reflexão sobre as mudanças que estão ocorrendo na vida cultural mediante o exame de uma literatura recente. Em seguida, buscamos extrair, desta mesma literatura, indicações a respeito tanto das peculiaridades do homem contemporâneo quanto de suas formas específicas de sofrimento. O sujeito contemporâneo aparece com a figura de Narciso. Face a este sujeito, mostramos, então, que a noção de narcisismo negativo é relevante para a compreensão acerca de seus modos específicos de adoecimento, característicos da época atual.

ABSTRACT

This article stems from difficulties that the psychoanalytic clinic hás faced in the treatment conduction of diverse types of expressive psychic disturbances of the present time. Objectifying a bigger clarification of such difficulties we start with a reflection about the changes that are occurring in the cultural life through the examination of recent literature in this area. After that we try to extract from this same literature indications on the peculiarities of the contemporary man and about his specific forms of suffering. The contemporary subject appears with the figure of Narcissus. Faced with this subject we show that the notion of negative narcissism is important for understanding its specific illnesses, characteristic of the current times.
