RESUMO

As contribuições da psicanálise ao estudo da família ainda utilizadas por médicos, pedagogos e juristas envelheceram. Datam de um mundo que está deixando de existir. Foram muito úteis se nos basearmos na popularidade alcançada, mas são fracas para as questões fundamentais da família atual, a do início do século XXI. A família de hoje se diferencia em um aspecto fundamental da família de ontem: ela é fruto de uma era onde o laço social é horizontal, enquanto, na anterior, era vertical. O autor argumenta que é necessário atualizar nossa perspectiva sobre a estrutura da família. Só assim seria possível uma interpretação legítima dos novos sintomas sociais.

ABSTRACT

The contributions of psychoanalysis to the study of family that are still been used by physicians, teachers and law professionals has aged. They date back to a world that has ceased to exist. They were much useful based in the popularity that was reached, but do not solve fundamental issues of today's family, the one from the beginning of the twenty first century. Today's family is different from yesterday's in a major aspect: it exists in an era where the social ties are horizontal, as opposed to then, with vertical social ties. The author believes that it is necessary to update our perspective on family structure. That is the only way it would be possible to have a legitimate interpretation of the new social symptoms.
