Aspectos quirúrgicos, morbilidad perioperatoria y continencia a mediano plazo entre un sling suburetral vertical y uno horizontal / Comparison of results between vertical and horizontal urethral slings: surgical technique, perioperatory morbidity and mid - term continence

RESUMEN

Este trabajo muestra los resultados de dos grupos de pacientes con incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo sometidos a tratamiento quirúrgico con una cinta suburetral horizontal y vertical. Dos grupos de pacientes fueron operados con una malla vertical (N=80) y una horizontal (N=98) con un seguimiento promedio de 23 meses. No hubo mayores diferencias en cuanto a la morbilidad del procedimiento. El tiempo quirúrgico fue significativamente menor para la cinta horizontal (21 min v/s 39 min) (p<0,05). La tasa de continencia, para la cinta horizontal y vertical fue de 92 por ciento y 90 por ciento respectivamente (p=0,2). Ambas cintas son efectivas para el manejo quirúrgico de la incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo.

ABSTRACT

This article shows the results of two groups of patient with stress urinary incontinence submitted to surgical treatment with an horizontal and vertical suburethral tape. Two groups of patients were operated with a vertical mesh (N=80) and an horizontal one (N=98) with a following period of time of 23 months. There were not major differences regarding the morbidity of procedure. The surgical time was significantly shorter for horizontal tape (21 min v/s 39 min) (p <0,05). The rate of continence for horizontal andvertical tape was 92 percent and 90 percent respectively (p=0,2). Both tapes are effective for the surgical treatment of urinary stress incontinence.
