Estrategia de capacitación para reducir las enfermedades diarreicas agudas en los menores de un año / Training strategy for the reduction of the acute diarrhoeal diseases in children under one year of age

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio pre-experimental de intervención del tipo antes - después en las madres de los niños menores de un año pertenecientes a los consultorios médicos de la familia 22 y 23 del Policlínico Universitario Diego del Rosario del Área Norte del municipio Morón, entre agosto 2007 y agosto 2008, con el objetivo de elevar el nivel de conocimientos sobre lactancia materna y hábitos higiénico dietéticos en la prevención de las enfermedades diarreicas agudas, mediante un curso de capacitación en base a las necesidades de aprendizaje identificadas. El universo estuvo constituido por 51 madres, y una muestra de 31 según criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se aplicó una encuesta al inicio, como diagnóstico previo, detectándose las necesidades de aprendizaje y fue confeccionada la estrategia de intervención. Finalmente se aplicó nuevamente la encuesta para medir el impacto de la estrategia implementada. Los resultados fundamentales fueron nivel de conocimiento evaluado de inadecuado en tiempo y ventajas de la lactancia materna; así como características del agua; condiciones de higiene personal y ambiental que justificó el estudio, se concluye que la estrategia de intervención logró cambios de conducta favorables en las madres de los menores de un año.

ABSTRACT

A pre-experimental intervention before/after study was carried out to mothers of children under one year of age pertaining to the medical doctor's offices 22 and 23 of University Polyclinic Diego del Rosario, Morón municipality Northern Area, from August 2007 to August 2008, with the aim of elevating knowledge on maternal breastfeeding and hygienic- dietetic habits in the prevention of the acute diarrhoeal diseases, by means of a education on the basis of the identified learning needs. Universe included 51 mothers, and the sample was formed with 31 patients that fulfilled the requirements for the inclusion. A survey was applied at the very beginning, as a previous diagnosis, detecting the learning needs and the intervention strategy was then carried out. Finally the survey was applied again to measure the impact of the implemented strategy. The fundamental results were inadequate knowledge evaluated on time and advantages of the maternal breastfeeding; as well as water characteristics; conditions of personal and environmental hygiene that justified the study, reaching the conclusion that the training strategy aroused favourable changes of behaviour in the mothers of children under one year of age.
