Salud bucal en gestantes de un área de salud urbana / Oral health in pregnant women of an urban health area

RESUMEN

Se efectuó un estudio descriptivo y transversal para determinar el estado de salud bucal de las embarazadas pertenecientes al Policlínico 30 de Noviembre de Santiago de Cuba desde enero hasta marzo del 2008, para lo cual se les realizó un examen físico intrabucal y extrabucal. Entre los principales resultados sobresalieron que si bien las alteraciones de la articulación temporomandibular y mucosa bucal no fueron significativas, en cambio predominaron los dientes obturados y cariados, por lo cual se imponía la aplicación de tratamiento estomatológico.

ABSTRACT

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out to determine the oral health of the pregnant women belonging to the 30 de Noviembre Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba from January to March, 2008. They underwent an intraoral and extraoral physical exam. Among the main results the most important were that although the changes of the temporomandibular joint and oral mucosa were not significant, on the other hand the decay and filled teeth prevailed, therefore it was necessary to applied the stomatologic treatment.
