Biossegurança: o conhecimento dos formandos da área da saúde / Biosafety: health pre-graduated knowledge

RESUMO

O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar o conhecimento em biossegurança dos formandos dos cursos de graduação da área da saúde na Universidade do Contestado. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, tipo inquérito, realizado por meio de questionário para os formandos, e entrevista estruturada para os coordenadores. Os dados foram coletados em outubro/novembro de 2005 e janeiro de 2006. Os voluntários foram abordados em sala de aula, nos primeiros 15 minutos da aula e convidados a participar da pesquisa. O teste Kruskal-Wallis revelou diferença significativa (p 0,05) em relação às notas médias finais dos formandos sobre o conhecimento em biossegurança nos cursos investigados, sendo o curso de Enfermagem o que apresentou maior nota média final (6,29). Acredita-se que tal resultado seja devido principalmente ao maior número de horas práticas existente no curso, 990 h-a, ou seja, um curso com maior número de disciplinas envolvendo o tema biossegurança necessariamente não é aquele que prepara melhor o aluno, mas sim, o curso que possui maior carga horária em disciplinas com aulas práticas.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to assess biosafety knowledge of students in the last year of health graduate course at the University of Contestado, SC. This is a cross-sectional study, carried out by means of a questionnaire for the pre-graduated students and a structured interview for the course coordinators. The data were collected in October/November 2005 and January 2006. A 15 question ? questionnaire was used as an instrument. In the class first 15 minutes, volunteers were contacted and invited to participate in the research. The Kruskal - Wallis Test revealed significant difference (p 0.05) in relation to the final averages of students on biosafety knowledge in the courses investigated, the Nursing course being the one presenting the largest final average (6.29). It is believed that this result reflects, basically, its largest number of practicalclass hours, circa 990 hours. In other words, the course with the largest workload in disciplines with practical classes repares the student better than the course with the largest number of disciplines involving biosafety.
