Algumas considerações sobre o Paternalismo Hipocrático / Some considerations on the Hippocratic Paternalism

RESUMO

O modelo de ética médica mais tradicional é, historicamente, o hipocrático. Segundo alguns autores, em nome da beneficência, a decisão médica hipocrática não considerava o modo individual de pensar do paciente, criando uma assimetria de domínio médico na relação reconhecida como paternalismo duro. Objetivando discutir o paternalismo impositivo, são feitas considerações sobre alguns autores e alguns dados do Corpus Hippocraticum. Hipócrates tornou-se o pai da Medicina, personificando o ideal médico com valores éticos eternos para a profissão. Beneficência e não-maleficência regiam os seus atos. O núcleo da relação com o paciente era o bem. Para exercer a arte, atuando em estreita relação com o enfermo, o asclepíade guiava-se por dois princípios o amor ao homem e o amor à sua arte. A ética hipocrática institui-se na relação médico-paciente com respeito à pessoa, princípio ético que atualmente incorpora o respeito pela autonomia.

ABSTRACT

The more traditional model of medical ethics is, historically, the Hippocratic. According to some authors, on behalf of charities, the Hippocratic medical decision did not consider the patientïs individual way of thinking, creating an asymmetry in the relationship of the medical recognized as hard paternalism. With the objective of discussing the impositive paternalism, considerations are taken on some authors and some data of the CorpusHippocraticum. Hippocrates became the father of Medicine, personifying the medical ideal with eternal ethical values for the profession. Beneficence and non-maleficence governed his actions. The core of the relationship with the patient was the good. To exercise the art, working closely with the sick, the Asclepiad was guided by two principles loveto the man and love to the art. The Hippocratic ethics imposes itself on the doctor-patient relationship with respect to the person, the ethical principle that currently incorporates the respect to autonomy.
