RESUMO
O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a atuação do Programa Saúde da Família (PSF) em municípios com população abaixo de 5.000 habitantes do Estado de Minas Gerais. Foram utilizados os indicadores de cobertura populacional efetiva pelo PSF e Internações Hospitalares Sensíveis à Atenção Ambulatorial (CSAA) como instrumentos avaliativos da pesquisa. Os resultados demonstraram que o percentual de Internações Sensíveis em janeiro de 1999 foi de 43%, decrescendo para 29% em dezembro de 2007, enquanto que a cobertura populacional evoluiu de 19% em janeiro de 1999 para 95% em dezembro de 2007 nos municípios estudados.O estudo apresenta valores estatisticamente significativos comprovando o aumento da cobertura populacional efetiva pelo PSF e a redução nas Internações sensíveis durante o período estudado. Entretanto, não foi possível afirmar que a cobertura do Programa Saúde da Família tenha sido único e principal fator responsável por essa evolução, mas certamente foi um dos fatores contributivos.
ABSTRACT
The propose of the study is to analyzed the performanceof the Family Health Program(PSF) in municipalities whichthe population is lower than 5.000 habitants in MinasGerais State. The study used the health indicators of theeffective coverage provided by PSF and the Hospitalizationdue to Ambulatory Care Sensitive conditions(ACSC) as ainstrument of assessment. According to the results, thepercentage of the Ambulatory Care Sensitive Conditions inJanuary of 1999 was 43%, decreasing to 29% in Decemberof 2007, while the coverage provided by PSF developedfrom 19% in January of 1999 to 95% in December of 2007.The study represents a significant statistic value confirmingthe increasing of the PSF covering and the decreasing theamount of the Hospitalizations due to Ambulatory CareSensitive during the period of the research, meanwhile itcould not affirm that the coverage provided by PSF wasthe only and principal responsible factor for this gradualdevelopment, but certainly it was a contributive factor.
