RESUMO
A redução da aptidão cardiorrespiratória (AC) e o aumento da gordura corporal são fatores que estão relacionados ao surgimento de doenças crônicas e à diminuição da expectativa de vida. O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar a chance de mulheres que apresentam maior adiposidade corporal, apresentarem menores resultados na AC. A amostra foi de 149 mulheres (30-49 anos). Avaliou-se peso, altura, circunferência da cintura (CC) e do quadril, calculou-se a relação cintura/quadril (RCQ). A AC foi avaliada pelo teste de caminhada de seis minutos. O teste qui-quadrado analisou a associação entre as variáveis e a regressão logística binária foi usada para verificar a razão de chance (RC) (p<0,05). Os resultados apresentaram que mulheres com adiposidade central acima do valor de corte apresentaram RC=3,79 (p=0,02) para CC e 3,41 (p=0,009) para RCQ. Utilizando-se o IMC como indicador de adiposidade, verificou-se que indivíduos com IMC elevado, apresentaram RC=2,81 (p=0,02). Conclui-se que mulheres com maior tecido adiposo total e central, apresentam menor AC.
ABSTRACT
The decrease of cardiorespiratory fitness (AC) and increased body fatness have been related to the emergence of chronic diseases and the reduced of life expectative. The aim of this study was to assess the chances of women that show higher body adiposity, show lower results in AC test. The sample was composed with of 149 women (30-49anos). It was evaluated weight, height, waist circumference (WC) and hip circumference, it was calculated the waist-to-hip ratio (WHR). The AC was evaluated by six-minute walk test. The chi-square test examined the association between variables and binary logistic regression was used to verify the odds ratio (OR) (p<0.05). The results showed that women with central adiposity above the cut-off point had to OR=3.79 (p=0,02) for WC and 3.41 (p=0,009) for WHR. Using the BMI as an indicator of adiposity, we found that individuals with high BMI showed OR=2.81 (p=0.02). We conclude that women with higher tissue adiposity total and central have lower AC.
