A importância do exame radiográfico digital no diagnóstico e tratamento da periodontite / The significance of digital radiographic examination and diagnosis of periodontitis treatment

RESUMO

A periodontite é caracterizada como uma patologia imunoinflamatória capaz de promover a reabsorção tecidual e óssea, tendo como fator etiológico primário o biofilme dental. O exame radiográfico é um tipo de avaliação complementar que permite a análise do tecido ósseo através das alterações sofridas pelo mesmo, possibilitando, por sua vez, a investigação sobre a evolução da periodontite ou o acompanhamento de terapias instituídas. O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar uma revisão de literatura, destacando os diferentes métodos radiográficos existentes para a detecção da perda óssea alveolar e enfatizando a importância de recursos mais sensíveis do que as radiografias convencionais, a exemplo da subtração radiográfica digital. É possível sugerir que há benefícios no emprego de métodos digitais que permitem a avaliação e intervenções precoces visando prevenir a perda óssea futura.

ABSTRACT

The periodontitis is characterized as a imunoinflammatory pathology capable of promote bone and tissue resorption, presented as principal responsible the dental plaque. The radiographic examination is one kind of complementary evaluation that allows the investigation of the bone tissue throughout suffered changes by itself, making possible, by its time, the investigation about the evolution of periodontitis or the maintenance of set up therapy. The purpose of this paper is to realize a literature review, outstanding several existent radiographic methods which detect alveolar bone loss emphasizing the importance of more sensible resources than conventional radiographies, as an example the digital radiographic subtraction. It is possible to suggest there are benefits on the application of digital methods that allows the premature evaluation and mediation, seeking future bone loss.
