RESUMO

Este artigo comenta o conto “O Horla”, escrito por Guy de Maupassant (1887), servindo-se das formulações de Jacques Lacan, principalmente no seminário A Angústia (1962-1963). Ao fazê-lo, propõe a hipótese de que o conto opera uma sulcagem, um trilhamento do real do qual o próprio escritor se servirá posteriormente para dar forma à sua enfermidade. Um destaque é dado ao efeito de Unheimlich, de inquietante estranheza, associado por Freud ao retorno do recalcado e por Lacan à emergência do objeto pequeno ‘a’ ali aonde deveria ter permanecido um vazio. Por fim, o trabalho de sulcagem do real é lido com a crítica literária e os elementos que ela nos traz do romance familiar do escritor.

ABSTRACT

This article discusses the story “The Horla”, written by Guy de Maupassant (1887), taking into consideration Jacques Lacan’s formulations, mainly in the seminar The Anguish (1962-1963). In doing so, it proposes the hypothesis that the story operates a facilitation of the real of which the writer himself will benefit later on in order to give form to his illness. A highlight is given to the effect of Unheimlich, of disturbing strangeness, linked by Freud to the return of the repressed and by Lacan to the emergence of the small object ‘a’ where there should have remained an empty space. Finally, the work of the facilitation of the real is read with literary criticism and with the elements it brings to enlighten the writer's family romance.
