ABSTRACT
Near the end of World War II a controversy was initiated that is still a topic of interest and current studies. Jacques Lacan and Henry Ey developed a series of discussions on the psychogenesis of neuroses and psychoses around the theme of Freedom, which stands out in studies of psychoanalysis and psychiatry in the last decades. Ey, supporting himself in a philosophical humanism, thinks man as free and self-determined. For Lacan, man receives his essential determinations from the outside, and is alienated in language. The current article deals with Henry Ey´s organo-dynamics comparing it with Lacan´s theories, where the phenomenon of madness is formulated as a significant cause - determined by language - and a rejection of causality - object as the real cause.
