ABSTRACT
Chronic superficial venous insufficiency affects 10-20% of the population of the Western World. Until recently, the main form of surgical treatment was the removal of the varicose veins, including the main stem of the long saphenous vein. Presently, a new technique exists external valvuloplasty of the sapheno-femoral junction with a venocuff consisting of a sleeve wrapped around the incompetent valve.
