ABSTRACT
The territorial stratification is a methodology that allows dimensioning specially the events through a process of aggregation and disaggregationof the territories to evaluate, from variables selected for these territories that allow aggregations (by homologies of the characteristics) or disaggregations (by heterogeneities of these). A descriptive observational study was carried out to stratify and to identify the municipalities with a greater risk of child mortality according to the behavior of three indicators that measure the operation of primary health care (PHC) in relation to Infantile-Maternal Health Program, in Ciego de Avila province during 2009. The method of epidemiological stratification, with consideration of the indicators, was used. It was concluded that in the high risk strata were 60 percent of the total of the municipalities; in the medium risk strata there was any municipality and in strata III considered as low risk strata, there was the 40 percent of the total of municipalities.
