ABSTRACT
Maintaining the perfect lower incisors alignment is a significant clinical goal after the orthodontic treatment, because of the difficulty to predict which patients are more susceptible to recurrence. The 3x3 fixed retainer, bonded to the lingual surface of the lower anterior teeth, is a proven method for minimizing incisor relapse and crowding, beyond its efficiency on keeping the intercanine distance. Besides that, its appropriate position and its height are important factors for the perfect function of the 3x3 fixed retainer. With the purpose to optimizing the bonding of this kind of retainer and to reduce the time spent on it, this article has the aim to describe one type of positioner, composed of silicona, to help bond the lingual fixed retainer.
