Fundamento: Las infecciones de transmisión sexual son temas prioritarios en el campo de la salud sexual y reproductiva en Cuba. Objetivo: Valorar el manejo de las pacientes portadoras de condilomas acuminados, y contribuir a que se cumplan los objetivos, proyectos y desarrollo de la salud pública cubana. Método: Se realizó un estudio analítico transversal observacional en 47 pacientes femeninas con condilomas acuminados atendidas en el departamento de tratamientos especializados de la consulta externa de Dermatología del Hospital Universitario Manuel Ascunce Domenech de la ciudad de Camagüey, desde el 1º de marzo al 31 de diciembre de 2007, el que constituyó el universo de estudio. Se les aplicó una encuesta, según criterios de expertos y los resultados se analizaron por medios automáticos. Resultados: Alrededor de la tercera parte de las enfermas no procedían de especialidades implicadas en el manejo de los condilomas acuminados, los médicos de otras especialidades obviaron al Médico General Integral, y estos últimos, no interconsultaron los casos con el dermatólogo. No se realizó un examen físico completo, a aproximadamente a las dos terceras partes de las enfermas, ni a sus parejas sexuales. A menos de la mitad de las pacientes se les indicaron complementarios para descartar otras infecciones de transmisión sexual asociadas, a ninguna se les descartó infección subclínica, ni alteraciones del epitelio cervical, ni citológicas. Conclusiones: La educación sanitaria se impartió a menos de la mitad de ellas.
ABSTRACT
Background: Sexually transmitted infections are priority themes at sexual and reproductive health field in Cuba. Objective: To assess the management of patient carriers of condylomata acuminatum, and contributing that objectives, projects and development of Cuban public health be fulfilled. Method: An observational cross-sectional analytic study in 47 female patients with condylomata acuminatum attended in the specialized treatment department of the Dermatology external consultation at Manuel Ascunce Domenech Teaching Hospital of Camagüey city was carried out, from March 1st to December 31st , 2007, which constituted the universe of study. A survey was applied, according to experts' criteria and results were analyzed for automatic means. Results: Around the third part of the sickpersons did not come from specialties implicated in the management of condylomata acuminatum, doctors of another specialties obviated the Integral General Practitioner, and the last ones, did not interconsult the cases with the dermatologist. A complete physical examination was not performed, approximately the two third parts of the sickpersons, neither to their sexual couples. To the less half of patients complementaries were indicated to dismiss another associated sexually transmitted infections, to no one sub-clinical infection, neither cytologic nor alterations of the cervical epithelium, were rejected. Conclusions: Sanitary education was given to the less half of them.
