Vida e trabalho de marítimos embarcados do setor offshore / Life and work of seafarers on board the offshore sector

RESUMO

Neste estudo é avaliada a relação entre trabalho e vida cotidiana de marítimos embarcados em empresa de apoio marítimo (Offshore), formados pela Marinha Mercante Brasileira. Buscou-se compreender, entre outras questões, o ambiente de trabalho desse grupo, seus comportamentos diante da situação de embarcados e de afastamento de seus familiares, a jornada de trabalho, os períodos de descanso e suas especificidades, bem como conhecer as trajetórias de vida dos trabalhadores marítimos, suas percepções sobre esse tipo de trabalho e as motivações que os levaram a escolher tal ocupação. Além disso, investigou-se como se dão as relações entre o trabalho embarcado e a vida familiar e social, e o impacto de uma sobre a outra. A metodologia adotada seguiu uma abordagem qualitativa, constituindo-se de observação participante dos ambientes de trabalho a bordo e entrevistas semi-dirigidas com a tripulação. Como resultado, observou-se que o contexto de trabalho embarcado afeta diretamente a vida familiar e social desse grupo de trabalhadores, impactando suas relações sociais e alguns aspectos de sua saúde, especialmente àqueles que atuam em ambientes com ruído. Dada a condição de confinamento, verificou-se que os trabalhadores permanecem imersos ao ambiente de trabalho mesmo nas horas de descanso e lazer. O descanso não se mostrou efetivo e evidenciou impactos negativos no sono desses trabalhadores. O sistema de férias e a aposentadoria foram identificados como aspectos geradores de frustração e que merecem atenção especial dos Sindicatos e da Legislação. O ganho financeiro aparece como fator mantenedor e motivador nesse tipo de ocupação, considerada difícil, porém adaptável. Grande parte do grupo estudado compreende o trabalho que realiza como sendo um meio de obtenção rápida de ganhos financeiros, sendo para muitos uma forma de acumular recursos para realização de seus sonhos profissionais.

ABSTRACT

This study evaluates the relationship between work and daily life of seamen on board offshore support company (Offshore), formed by the Merchant Marine Ministry. We tried to understand, among other issues, the working environment of this group, theirbehavior before the situation on board and away from their families, working hours, rest periods and their specificities, as well as learn about the life trajectories seafarers, theirperceptions about this type of work and the motivations that led them to choose such an occupation. Furthermore, we investigate how to give the relationship between work and family life and embedded social, and impact on one another. The methodology followed a qualitative approach, being participant observation of work environments on board and semi-directive interviews with the crew. As a result, it was observed that the work context shipped directly affects the family and social life of this group of workers, impacting their social relations and some aspects of their health, especially those whowork in noisy environments. Given the condition of confinement, it was found that workers remain immersed in the work environment even in hours of rest and relaxation. The rest has not proved effective and showed a negative impact on sleep of these workers. The system of vacation and retirement issues were identified as generating frustration and deserve special attention from the unions and the Legislature. Financial gain appears to be motivating and maintaining factor in this type ofoccupation, as difficult, but adaptable. Much of the study group comprises the work she does as a means to obtain quick financial gains, and for many a way to accumulate resources for achieving their professional dreams.
