RESUMO

Neste trabalho, objetivamos discutir os pressupostos metateóricos que embasam a teoria social de John B. Thompson. Para tanto, estruturamos o trabalho em três partes. Num primeiro momento, apresentamos e analisamos os pressupostos dessa teoria que dizem respeito à filosofia da ciência, ou seja, aqueles que se referem à ontologia, à epistemologia, à natureza humana e à metodologia. Num segundo momento, abordamos aqueles referentes à teoria sobre a sociedade, isto é, aqueles que se referem à natureza do mundo social. Num terceiro e último momento, analisamos a forma como a teoria social em questão amarra esses dois conjuntos de pressupostos e as implicações éticas decorrentes dessa amarra.

ABSTRACT

In this essay, we aimed to discuss the meta-theoretical conjectures in which John B. Thompson’s social theory is based. To achieve this purpose, we divide this essay in three parts. In the first one, we presented and analyzed the conjectures proposed by this theory about science philosophy, or rather, the ones concerning it’s ontology, it’s epistemology, it’s human nature and it’s the methodology. In the second part, we discussed the conjectures on society´s theory, or rather, those concerning the nature of the social world. In the third part, we analyzed the way this social theory bonds these two groups of conjectures and the ethical consequences of this bounding.

RESUMEN

En este trabajo, objetivamos discutir los presupuestos meta teóricos que fundamentan a la teoría social de John B. Thompson. Para tanto, estructuramos el trabajo en tres partes. En un primer momento, presentamos y analizamos los presupuestos de esa teoría que se refieren a la filosofía de la ciencia, o sea, aquellos que se refieren a la ontología, a la epistemología, a la naturaleza humana y a la metodología. En un segundo momento, abordamos aquellos referentes a la teoría sobre la sociedad, es decir, aquellos que se refieren a la naturaleza del mundo social. En un tercer y último momento, analizamos la forma cómo la teoría social bajo investigación une esos dos conjuntos de presupuestos y las implicaciones éticas de esa unión.
