RESUMO

O objetivo deste artigo é discutir teoricamente mudanças contemporâneas no contexto do trabalho, aceleradas em decorrência da globalização, que se refletem nas organizações e nos trabalhadores. As organizações passaram a incorporar nas suas culturas, valores e artefatos consoantes com as “novas” formas de organização do trabalho e com as recentes exigências do ambiente macro societário. Ao mesmo tempo, em função das múltiplas mudanças que estão ocorrendo de forma intensa nas organizações, se reforça o discurso que foca a preocupação em proporcionar bons lugares para trabalhar e estratégias voltadas ao desenvolvimento da qualidade de vida no trabalho, notadamente em uma perspectiva gerencialista. Os valores e crenças e as influências que os mesmos exercem nos modos de sentir, pensar e agir em relação ao ser humano, trabalho, ambiente físico e psíquico são socialmente construídos. Estes contribuem à formação e definição das identidades daqueles que atuam em organizações de trabalho, pois o que é valorado institucionalmente interfere nas suas escolhas, constituições enquanto sujeitos e nas possibilidades ou limites em termos de qualidade de vida no trabalho. Com base na articulação dos três construtos aqui discutidos, são apresentadas, ao final do texto, sugestões de possíveis temas de pesquisas.

ABSTRACT

This article aims to discuss, through theory, about contemporary changes in the work context, accelerated due to globalization, which reflect on organizations and their employees. The organizations have been incorporating, in their cultures, values and artifacts compatible with the “new” ways of organizing work and with the recent demands of the macro social environment. At the same time, due to multiple changes that are intensely taking place in organizations, there is a reinforcement of the discourse that focuses on the preoccupation in providing good work places as well as on strategies aimed at the development of life quality at work, notably in a managerial approach. The values, beliefs and the influence that they have on the ways of feeling, thinking and acting regarding human beings and their working, physical and psychological environments are socially constructed. These factors contribute to the formation and definition of the identities of those who act in work organizations, given that what is institutionally valued interferes in their choices, their constitution as subjects and in the possibilities or limits in terms of quality life quality at work. Based on the articulation of the three constructs discussed, suggestions of possible topics of research are presented at the end of the text.
