Jung e as experiências mediúnicas / Jung and mediumistic experiences

RESUMO

O surgimento da psicologia científica, por volta da segunda metade do século XIX, esteve fortemente ligado ao estudo de experiências alegadamente paranormais, sobretudo experiências mediúnicas. O estudo da mediunidade e da crença numa vida após a morte teria contribuído de modo relevante para o desenvolvimento de certos conceitos e teorias psicológicas, como os conceitos de dissociação, estados alterados de consciência, complexos psíquicos personalidades secundárias, enfrentamento do luto etc. Dentre os pesquisadores pioneiros da mediunidade estavam alguns dos grandes nomes da psiquiatria e da psicologia, como Carl Gustav Jung. A investigação das experiências mediúnicas parece ter contribuído significativamente na elaboração de parte da estrutura teórica e de pensamento de Jung. Suas pesquisas sobre a mediunidade,Por sua vez, constituem uma importante contribuição para a elucidação psicológica do tema. O presente artigo revisa brevemente algumas das idéias de Jung acerca das experiências mediúnicas e explora as implicações de tais estudos para o campo da psicologia analítica e da psicologia de um modo geral.

ABSTRACT

The emergence of scientific psychology, by the second half of the nineteenth century, was srongly associated with the study of allegedly paranormal events including mediumistic experiences. The study of mediumship and belief in a afterlife has contributed to the development of certain psychological concepts and theories, as the concepts of dissociation, altered states of consciousness, psychic complexes, secondary personalities, coping with bereavement etc. Among the pioneering researchers of medimship were some of the great authors of Psychiatry and Psychology,as Carl Gustav Jung. The investigation of psychic experiences seem to have significantly contributed to the development of Jung’s theoretical thinking, his research into mediumship constitutes na important contribution to the elucidation of the subject. This article summarizes some of Jung’s ideas about mediumistic experiences and explores some of its implications for Analytical Psychology and mainstream Psychology.
