Uso da busca ativa de óbitos na avaliação do Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade em Minas Gerais, Brasil / Use of active mortality research of death in the evaluation of the Mortality Information System in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil

RESUMO

Objetivo: avaliar os dados do Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade (SIM) na macrorregião Nordeste do Estado de Minas Gerais investigando a subnotificação de óbitos e possíveis fatores associados e a contribuição de diferentes fontes para a notificação. Metodologia: realizou-se busca ativa em 17 possíveis fontes para a identificação de óbitos não notificados ao SIM em 2007, em dez municípios selecionados da região. Resultados: verificou-se em 2007 uma subnotificação de 26,5 por cento em relação ao banco do SIM disponível na Secretaria de Estado de Saúde de Minas Gerais em abril de 2008, e de 18,9 por cento com relação ao banco final do Ministério da Saúde; cartórios, estabelecimentos de saúde e equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família foram as fontes mais importantes para identificação de óbitos não notificados. Conclusão: a busca ativa de óbitos em fontes alternativas deve ser utilizada para melhorar a notificação, aumentar a cobertura de óbitos e permitir o uso dos dados do SIM para o cálculo dos diversos indicadores de saúde.

ABSTRACT

Objective: this study aims to evaluate the Mortality Information System (MIS) data in the Northeastern region of the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, investigating underreported deaths and associated factors, as well as the contribution of different sources of death information. Methodology: active mortality research was performed in 17 possible reporting sources to identify non-notified deaths occurred in 2007, in ten selected Municipalities in the Northeastern region of the State. Results: it was identified an underreporting of 26.5 per cent in 2007 in relation to the nominal list of MIS, available in the State of Minas Gerais in April 2008, and of 18.9 per cent considering the final list of the Ministry of Health of Brazil; registry offices, healthcare facilities, and Family Health Strategy Teams were the mainly sources to identify non-notified deaths. Conclusion: active research for deaths in alternative sources should be used to improve reporting, increase coverage of reported deaths, and allow the use of MIS data for direct calculation of several health indicators.
