RESUMO
A síndrome de burnout é um fenómeno psicossocial que resulta de uma tensão emocional crónica, vivenciada pelos profissionais cujo trabalho envolve o relacionamento intenso e frequente com pessoas que necessitam de algum tipo de cuidado. O objectivo deste estudo foi comparar a prevalência e os factores associados à síndrome de burnout de uma amostra de 224 profissionais da saúde, 112 brasileiros e 112 portugueses. Foram utilizados, como instrumentos de pesquisa, o Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), o Questionário de Satisfação no trabalho (S20/23) e um questionário para averiguar outras variáveis, considerando as especificidades do contexto laboral dos países envolvidos. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram prevalências semelhantes e não foram identificadas diferenças significativas quanto às dimensões do burnout. Os resultados identificaram diferenças entre os países nas associações entre as três dimensões da síndrome com as variáveis sociodemográficas, laborais e psicossociais.
ABSTRACT
Burnout is a psychosocial phenomenon witch result from chronic emotional tension, experienced professionals whose work includes the intense relationship and frequent contact with people who need some care. The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence and factors associated with burnout syndrome in a sample of 224 health professionals, 112 Brazilian and 112 Portuguese. A questionnaire was built with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Satisfaction at Work (QLS S20/23) and a questionnaire to survey the remaining variables considering the specifics of the work context of the countries involved. The results showed a similar prevalence and no differences were identified by the dimensions of burnout. Results identified differences between countries in the associations between the three dimensions of the syndrome and sociodemographic, psychosocial and employment.
