RESUMO
Muitas vezes, a senescência é analisada sob uma perspectiva negativa, sendo considerada simplesmente como um processo de declínio gradual de vários processos de manutenção da vida. Entender, então, a vantagem desse processo de declínio torna-se essencial. Objetivo:
realizar uma revisão bibliográfica a respeito das teorias biológicas as quais entendem a necessidade do envelhecimento individual sob um ponto de vista evolucionário.Materiais e métodos:
foram utilizados 15 artigos e 6 livros.Conclusão:
o envelhecimento é um fenômeno darwiniano deter seu processo não acarretará vantagens às espécies.ABSTRACT
Senescence has been frequently analyzed from a negative point of view, being simply considered a process of gradual decline of the many processes that maintain life. Therefore, understanding the advantage of this process of decline becomes essential. Objective:
To carry out a bibliographic review regarding biological theories which justify the necessity of individual aging from an evolutionary point of view. Material andmethod:
15 papers and 6 books were consulted.Conclusion:
Aging is a Darwinian phenomenon stopping this process will not be advantageous to the species.
