Prevalência de quedas em idosos institucionalizados no Lar das Vovozinhas e Lar dos Vovozinhos da cidade de Londrina / Prevalence of falls in institutionalized elderly living at Lar das Vovozinhas and Lar dos Vovozinhos in the city of Londrina

RESUMO

O presente estudo buscou identificar os fatores de risco e a prevalência de quedas em idosos de duas instituições asilares de Londrina. Participaram cinco idosos, sendo que três referiram queda com prejuízo em suas atividades habituais. Medidas como avaliação dos idosos; identificação dos fatores de risco; incentivo à prática de atividade física regular; uso adequado de calçados e vestuário; conscientização dos cuidadores e instalação de medidas de segurança podem minimizar o risco de quedas.

ABSTRACT

The goal of this study was to identify the risk factors and prevalence of falls in elderly living in two institutions of the city of Londrina (south of Brazil). Five elderly participated, and three mentioned falls followed by limitations in their daily activities. Some measures may minimize the risk of falls: evaluation of the elderly; identification of risk factors; incentive to the regular practice of physical activity; adequate use of footwear and clothes; raising the awareness of caregivers: implementation of security measures.
