Situações pulmonares na síndrome da apnéia obstrutiva do sono / Pulmonary involvement in sleep apnea syndrome

RESUMO

O objetivo é descrever a concomitância de alterações pulmonares em indivíduos portadores da Síndrome da Apnéia Obstrutiva do Sono (SAOS), entidade ainda pouco diagnosticada, aparentemente subsequente à existência de Síndrome Metabólica (SM) e associada a algumas situações de morbidade e mortalidade consideráveis. Achados concomitantes Fibrose Pulmonar Idiopática (FPI), Hipertensão Arterial Pulmonar (HAP) e Sarcoidose Pulmonar (SP), podem cursar paralelamente à SAOS, em graus variados de extensão e agravadas pela sua presença. Conclusões: reforçar a lembrança destas associações para que o tratamento das mesmas possa contribuir para menor morbi-mortalidade e, de certa forma, atenuar o papel inflamatório sistêmico da SM.

ABSTRACT

The goal is to describe the relationship between Sleep Apnea Syndrome (SAS) and others pulmonary situations with variable morbidity and mortality probably as a consequence of the Methabolic Syndrome (MS). Concomitant Findings: Pulmonary Idiophatic Fibrosis (PIF), Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and Pulmonary Sarcoidosis (PS) may develop in parallel with SAS in different degrees of severity that may be increased by the association of this syndrome. Conclusions: It is importantto be aware about the concomitance of these clinical situations once the treatment of one of them may benefit the behavior of the others and diminish the inflammatory consequences of the MS.
