Puede la conducta general del niño predecir su colaboración en el consultorio dental? / Can the general behavior of the child predict the cooperation at the dental office?

RESUMEN

El propósito de este estudio fue de evaluar la relación entre el problema de conducta general del niño y su conducta durante el tratamiento dental. La poblacíón estuvo constituída por 25 niños de 3 a 9 años de edad que fueron atendidos en la Clínica Odontopediátríca, Facultad de Estomatologia, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH); todos ellos diagnostícados con lesiones de Caries Dental y Pulpitis Irreversible. Se evaluó el nivel de problema conductual general del niño a través del Test de Achenbach y la conducta en el consultorio dental a través de la Escala de Clasifícación de Conducta del Niño en el Consultorio Dental de la Universidad del Estado de Ohio. No se observó relación entre la conducta del paciente durante el tratamiento dental y los problemas conductuales generales de cada niño.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation between the general behavior of the child and the cooperation during dental treatment. The population consisted of 25 children 3-9 year old seen at the Pediatríc Dentistry Cliníc Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, all of them diagnosed with Dental Caries lesions and irreversible pulpitis. We evaluated the level of general behavior of the child through the test of Achenbach and the behavior in the dental office through the Child Cooperation Classifícation Scale of the University of Ohio. There was no relation between the cooperation of the patient during dental treatment and the general behavior problems of the child.
