La souffrance comme l'expérience partagée dans l'accompagnement de patients en soins palliatifs / Suffering as the experience shared in supporting palliative care patients

Dans l'étude, dont quelques résultats sont présentés dans l'article, nous avons situé l'expérience de la souffrance au cœur d'un vaste système d'échanges qui concernent autant les proches, les familles des malades, que les professionnels médicaux et sociaux qui interviennent lors des traitements, des hospitalisations et, notamment lors de la phase d'accompagnement à la mort. L'étude a été conduite en collaboration avec l'Unité mobile de Recherches et de Soutien en Soins Palliatifs du CHU de Grenoble en juin et juillet 2005. Outre les observations directes, entretiens informels, participations aux réunions d'équipes (réunions de transferts, réunions de concertations…) la méthode principale a été celle de "l'entretien compréhensif" réalisé avec 42 personnes patients, membres des familles, soignants dans deux unités de soins et avec de nombreuses personnes ressources du CHU de Grenoble.

ABSTRACT

In the study, whose some results are presented in the paper, we located the experience of suffering into a vast system of exchanges which concern, the families of the patients of cancer, the medical and social care units who accompany the patients at the time of the disease and treatments in hospital, and, specially, at the time of accompaniment to death. The study was led in collaboration with the mobile Unit of Research and Support in Palliative Care of the Central University Hospital - CUH of Grenoble in June and July 2005. In addition to the direct observations, free conversations, participation in the meetings of medical units (transfers meetings, conciliation meetings...) the main method was the "understanding interview" carried out with 42 people patients, members of the families, and medical units in two care units of CHU of Grenoble.
