RESUMEN

Introducción:

la capacitación en trauma es prioritaria en educación médica continua.

Objetivo:

investigar el grado de actualización en conocimientos básicos sobre trauma en médicos de la familia, para identificar las necesidades de capacitación.

Métodos:

se aplicó un cuestionario sobre conceptos básicos de trauma a un grupo de médicos de la familia y se determinó la calificación promedio. Se compararon las calificaciones de quienes habían recibido cursos de actualización en trauma con las del resto, y de quienes se consideraban capacitados para atender trauma, con las del resto. Se determinó la proporción de preguntas con porcentaje de aciertos > 60 por ciento y > 80 por ciento.

Resultados:

se aplicaron 61 cuestionarios, y el intervalo de calificación fue de 15 a 60 (promedio 40,7, DE ± 9,51, IC 95 por ciento 39,51-41,89). El promedio fue superior entre quienes habían recibido actualización en trauma (41,8 vs. 18,3; p= 0,004). Seis preguntas (35 por ciento) tuvieron porcentaje de aciertos > 60 por ciento y 5 (25 por ciento) > 80 por ciento.

Conclusiones:

no todos los encuestados se sienten capacitados para atender a un paciente politraumatizado en su área de salud, y aunque tienen un aceptable nivel de conocimientos teóricos, no todos se encuentran actualizados, por lo que la necesidad de capacitación es alta(AU)
ABSTRACT

Introduction:

the knowledge on trauma is a priority in the continuous medical education.

Objective:

the objective of present paper is to research the level of updating of basic knowledges on trauma in the family physicians to identify the needs of capitation.

Methods:

a questionnaire on the basic concepts of trauma was distributed among the family physicians determining the final qualification. The qualifications from whose have received courses of updating in trauma were compared and that from whom were considered as trained to care a trauma with the remainder. It was determined the questions ratio with percentages de correct answer > 60 percent and > 80 percent.

Results:

sixty one questionnaires were applied and the qualification interval was of 15 to 60 (average 40.7, SD ± 9.51, 95 percent CI 39.51-41.89). Average was higher among who received an updating on trauma (41.8 versus 18.3; p= 0.004). Six questions had a percentage of correct answers > 60 percent and 5 (25 percent) > 80 percent.

Conclusions:

not all the person polled are trained to care a polytraumatized patients in its health area and although there is an acceptable level of theoretical knowledges, not all are updated, thus, it is necessary a high level of training(AU)
