RESUMEN

Las personas con enfermedades crónicas tienen que lidiar de forma permanente con ellas en las áreas física, psíquica y simbólica de la individualidad, pero el ser humano es un ser social que se expresa y proyecta en diferentes espacios de la vida cotidiana, por lo que está obligado a trascender dicha individualidad en aras del mantenimiento de las relaciones interpersonales, espejo fundamental desde el cual los sujetos reconstruyen su imagen social y personal. Las ocupaciones, remuneradas o no, pueden verse limitadas y reestructuradas a partir de la necesidad de los cuidados sistemáticos de la salud, lo que puede producir inestabilidades económicas con resonancias en la estructura y dinámica familiar. La familia es la fuente de apoyo por excelencia, en especial la pareja. La vivencia de sexualidades limitadas pudiera ser más el resultado de cómo la enfermedad y ella misma se construyen y abordan, que consecuencia directa del proceso de enfermedad. Es importante explorar las dinámicas de vida de personas con enfermedades crónicas en sus diferentes áreas de expresión, y comprender cómo sus actores participan en sus procesos de salud, como vía para potenciar el bienestar, la salud y la calidad de vida.

ABSTRACT

People suffering from chronic diseases have to deal with them in the physical, psyquical and symbolic spaces of their individuality. However, the human being is a social being that expresses and projects itself at different spaces of the daily life, so he is forced to go beyond this individuality to be able to keep his inter-personal relationships which is the fundamental mirror for the reconstruction of the social and personal image of subjects. Paid or non-paid occupations can be restricted and restructured on account of the need of systematic health care; this may bring about economic instability having an impact on the family structure and dynamics. The family is the source of support par excellence, particularly the couple. Living experience of restricted sexuality might be more the result of how the disease and the experience are built and approached rather than the direct consequence of the process of disease. It is important to explore the life dynamics in persons with chronic diseases within their different areas of expression, and to understand how the actors are involved in their health processes as a way of potentiating well-being, health and quality of life.
