Algunas consideraciones actuales sobre el cáncer gástrico / Some current considerations on gastric cancer

RESUMEN

El cáncer gástrico es una de las neoplasias que produce mayor mortalidad en la población mundial. Desarrollo: se presenta una revisión bibliográfica sobre los factores de riesgo mejor documentados y aceptados por la comunidad científica: infección por helicobacter pylori, dieta, susceptibilidad genética y nivel socioeconómico. Además, se analizan la formas de enfrentar esta enfermedad, y se hace hincapié en las interrogantes y retos que plantean los nuevos conocimientos, con el objetivo de profundizar en este tema de importancia relevante para gastroenterólogos, cirujanos, patólogos y médicos en general, y especificar los aspectos más novedosos en cuanto al manejo, prestando especial atención al diagnóstico y la terapéutica endoscópica. Conclusiones: el diagnóstico temprano mediante la realización de endoscopia es la estrategia fundamental para disminuir la mortalidad por esta enfermedad.

ABSTRACT

Gastric cancer is one of neoplasias that produce greater mortality in the worldwide population. Development: a bibliographic review on the risk factors better documented and accepted by the scientific community: infection by helicobacter pylori, diet, genetic sensitivity and socioeconomic level. Besides, the ways to face this disease are analyzed, and it is emphasized in the questions and challenges that are present in the new knowledge, with the aim to go into this relevant topic in greater depth for gastroenterologists, surgeons, pathologists and doctors in general, and specifying the most original aspects as to handling, paying special attention to diagnosis and endoscopic therapeutics. Conclusions: an early diagnosis by carrying out endoscopy is the fundamental strategy to decrease the mortality by this disease.
