Introduction:
The objective of the study was to evaluate the time of bacterial filtration, obtained in root canal with and without medication intracanal, using a model of bacterial filtration. Material andmethod:
There were utilized 49 human tooth extracted uniradicular that after the removal of their crowns, had their canals prepared to 1mm before the apex radicular to the instrument Nº 45; subsequently, 3 groups of 15 were separated in hydroxide of calcium plus water distilled (G1), hydroxide of calcium plus glycerin and paramonoclorofenol (G2) and without medication intracanal (G3). The groups were sealed temporarily with Coltosol. Furthermore, 4 teeth were used of group control 2 positive and 2 negative. All the teeth were submitted to models of bacterial filtration to observe the contamination by a period of 21 days. Results:
The average of aforesaid bacterial contamination in days was statistically significant (p<0,001) for the calcium hydroxide paste plus glycerin and paramonoclorofenol, in comparison to the canals that did not receive medication intracanal. Conclusions:
The study showed that the materials of temporary restoration and the medicines are susceptible to the bacterial filtration.
