Percepção dos pacientes sobre o exame retal digital / Patiente's perception about the rectal digital examination.

RESUMO

OBJETIVO: analisar as expectativas e reações dos pacientes sobre o exame retal digital(EDR); verificar a aceitação da triagem anual do câncer de próstata (CaP). MÉTODO: foramestudados cento e um pacientes atendidos no serviço de urologia de um hospital universitário,período de janeiro a julho de 2009, que estariam se submetendo ao ERD pela primeira vez eprocuraram o serviço por livre demanda. Todos responderam a um questionário que avaliava aposição em que o paciente preferia ser examinado; suas perspectivas antes da realização doexame e após o mesmo; a percepção da dor durante ERD e quanto à adesão à triagem anual doCaP. Para análise dos dados foi aplicado o teste Qui-quadrado, considerando p<0,05.RESULTADOS: a média de idade dos pacientes foi de 51,9 anos. A posição preferencial para oexame foi em pé com os cotovelos apoiados sobre a mesa. Antes do ERD, 66,34% da amostrareferiu uma impressão negativa (doloroso, humilhante ou desconfortável) sobre o exame. Apóssua execução 57,43% dos pacientes julgou o procedimento como normal. A maioria dosindivíduos avaliou o método como indolor ou com dor mínima. A taxa de adesão ao rastreioanual do CaP foi de 98,02%. CONCLUSÃO: antes do ERD, a maior parcela dos pacientes oconsiderava doloroso, humilhante ou desconfortável, posicionamento que foi sensivelmentemodificado após a execução do exame. A dor referida durante o ERD foi mínima e a quasetotalidade dos pacientes asseguraram adesão à triagem do CaP, submetendo-se anualmente ao toque retal

ABSTRACT

AIMS: to analyze the perspectives and reactions of patients concerning to the Rectal DigitalExamination (RDE); verify the acceptance to the Annual Triage to Prostate Cancer (ApC).METHODS: a hundred and one patients on their first RDE, attended spontaneously our servicewere studied. All of them answered a questionnaire that evaluated the position on which thepatients preferred to be examined; their perspectives before and after the exam was taken; theperception of pain during the RDE and about joining to the Annual Triage of ApC. The Qui-Square Test was used to analyze the data, considering significance on results p<0,05.RESULTS: the patient?s average age was 51,9 years old. Preferred position to examination wasstanding, elbows on the table. Before RDE 66,3% of sampled patients had a negative impressionto the exam (painful, humiliating or uncomfortable). After the exam, 57,4% of patients thoughtthe procedure as normal. Majority of individuals evaluated the method as painless as minimumpain. Acceptace to ApC tracking was about 98%. CONCLUSIONS: before RDE, most of thepatients thought the procedure as painful, humiliating and uncomfortable, their opinion changedafter the exam was performed. Pain on RDE was minimal to almost all patients who joined theApC triage.
