Las plaquetas en la diabetes mellitus / The platelets in diabetes mellitus

RESUMEN

Se describen las alteraciones más importantes de la función plaquetaria, tales como las anomalías en el metabolismo del ácido araquidónico, la disminución de la producción de prostaciclina, el aumento del contenido de los gránulos alfa y el incremento del número de receptores de las glicoproteínas GPIb y GPIIb/IIIa en pacientes con diabetes mellitus (DM). Igualmente se evalúa el papel del endotelio vascular, así como la asociación de la DM con un estado de hipercoagulabilidad.

ABSTRACT

The most important alterations of the platelet function, such as the anomalies in the metabolism of arachidonic acid, the reduction of the production of prostacyclin, the increase of the content of alpha granules and the rise of GPIb and GPIIb/IIIa glycoprotein receptors in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) are described. Likewise, the role of the vascular endothelium as well as the association of DM with a state of hypercoagulability are evaluated.
