Lactancia materna en madres de niños entre 1 a 3 años de edad según el estrato socioeconómico en el Distrito Sanitario Nº 4, El Valle Caracas / Breastfeeding mothers of children aged 1 to 3 years of age according to socioeconomic status in the Sanitary District No. 4, Caracas El Valle

RESUMEN

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo conocer aspectos relacionados con la lactancia materna practicada por 267 madres desde el primer año de vida de sus hijos hasta los 3 años de edad, mediante la aplicación de cuestionarios (con respuestas abiertas y cerradas), en ambulatorios del Distrito Capital de Caracas El Valle, Alberto Ravell y Cochecito. Predominaron los estratos sociales obrero y marginal según Graffar Modificado con un promedio de 5,68 miembros por familia, las viviendas tipo rancho; solamente el 9 por ciento de la muestra total pertenecía al estrato III. Las madres manifestaron su predilección por la lactancia materna en forma exclusiva durante seis meses; pero sólo 6,88 por ciento la practicó, el 49,38 por ciento lo hizo en menos tiempo; finalmente un 36,38 por ciento se inclinó por la lactancia mixta. La información recibida en las charlas no influyó en la decisión de las madres para optar por la lactancia exclusiva durante los seis primeros meses de vida del niño.

ABSTRACT

The present investigation had like objective to know aspects related to the maternal lactation practiced by 267 mothers from the first yerar of age in children to the 3 years of age, by means of the application of questionnaires (with open and closed answers), in ambulatory of the Capital District of Caracas The Valley, Alberto Ravell and Cochecito. Predominated the social layers working and marginal according to Graffar Modified with an average of 5.68 members by family, only 9 percent of the total sample belonged to layer III. The mothers showed their predilection by maternal lactation in it exclusive forms right during six months; but only 6.88 percent practiced it, 49.38 percent did it for less time; finally a 36.38 percent inclined by the mixed lactation. The information received in to char them is not influenced in the decision of the mothers to decide on the exclusive lactation during the first six month of childern life.
