ABSTRACT
The aim of the authors of this study was to verify the insertion and removal torque values and the mechanical resistance to fracture of the tip and transmucosal profile of mini-implants (MI) in two lengths (6 and 8 mm). In addition, their surface morphology was evaluated through scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that in general the surface of MI was smooth and no significant marks coming from the manufacturing process were observed. The fracture resistance values of MI were 3.41 and 3.54 times greater than those required for their insertion, respectively, for the length of 6 mm and 8 mm. Mini-implants showed surface morphology and resistance to fracture compatible with clinical use.
