E finalmente Freud aprendeu a falar português / Finally Freud speaks Portuguese

RESUMO

Durante muitos anos dispúnhamos apenas de traduções precárias das obras de Freud em português. Entretanto, recentemente fomos brindados com a publicação de dois notáveis trabalhos de tradução diretamente do alemão, realizados por Luiz Alberto Hanns e Paulo César de Souza, pelas editoras Imago e Companhia das Letras. Trata-se de um grande acontecimento para os leitores de Freud, que agora poderão apreciar a clareza de seu pensamento e a elegância de seu estilo. A autora deste artigo faz uma retrospectiva histórica, acompanhando os caminhos que os textos de Freud tomaram de Viena até o Brasil. Também descreve em linhas gerais os aspectos que caracterizam as novas traduções em andamento.

ABSTRACT

For a long time we had to make do with poor translations of Freud’s work into Portuguese. However, this has now changed as we have recently had the pleasure of being presented with two excellent translations made directly from German, by Luiz Alberto Hanns and Paulo César de Souza, published by Imago and Companhia das Letras. This is a major event for all Freud´s readers that can now benefit from the clarity of his thought and the elegance of his style. The author of this article makes a historical retrospective following the Freud’s writings from Viena to Brazil. She also describes briefly the characteristics of the new translations which are still in the making.
