Influência do número de utilizações dos sistemas ProTaper Universal e Hero Shaper no preparo de canais radiculares achatados: análise histológica / Influence of the number of use when using ProTaper Universal and Hero Shaper in endodontic preparation: an histological analysis

RESUMO

Objetivo - O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência do número de utilizações dos sistemas rotatórios ProTaper®, Hero Shaper® e dos instrumentos manuais Flexofile® no preparo de canais radiculares achatados. Método - Foram utilizados 47 incisivos inferiores humanos. Estes dentes foram divididos em três grupos. GI ProTaper, G2 Hero Shaper e G3 Flexofile, sendo que cada grupo foi dividido novamente em mais 3 sub-grupos, para o primeiro, terceiro e quinto uso. Após o preparo, os dentes foram submetidos ao processamento histológico. A análise foi feita em relação ao perímetro regular das paredes dentinárias e à quantidade de resíduos na luz do canal radicular. A análise das imagens foi feita por meio do software UTHSCSA Image Tool, e os resultados foram submetidos ao teste estatístico ANOVA. Resultados - Em relação ao perímetro regular e à presença de resíduos, houve diferença estatística significativa entre os usos e entre os grupos. Conclusão - Conclui-se que, em relação à limpeza, os instrumentos no primeiro uso foram considerados com a mesma eficiência entre si; durante o terceiro uso, o ProTaper demonstrou superioridade em relação aos demais, enquanto que no quinto uso, o Hero Shaper foi considerado o melhor instrumento. Em relação à quantidade de perímetro regular, concluiu-se que o ProTaper foi superior aos demais no primeiro uso, enquanto que nas demais utilizações os instrumentos foram considerados iguais.

ABSTRACT

Objective - This study evaluated the influence of the number of use when ProTaper®, Hero Shaper® and hand files Flexofile are used in flattened root canals preparation. Method - It was used 45 human mandibular incisors and the exclusion factor was the presence of more than one root canal. These samples were divided into three study groups. GI ProTaper, G2 Hero Shaper and G3 Flexofile. The preparation was made and the samples was subjected to histological analysis which evaluated the perimeter of regular dentin walls and the amount of debris in the root canal. Image analysis was performed using UTHSCSA Image Tool. Results - The ANOVA test showed significant differences between the numbers of use and between the different rotary systems. Conclusion - Regarding the cleaning efficiency it was concluded that at first use all of the instruments showed the same efficiency; at the third use the ProTaper demonstrated superiority compared to the other, while at the fifth use Hero Shaper showed the best performance. Regarding the regular perimeter, ProTaper was better than the other systems at the first use, while at the other uses the instruments were considered equal.
