A função da angústia na metapsicologia freudiana / The function of anxiety in Freudian metapsychology

RESUMO

Desde as primeiras hipóteses de Freud sobre a gênese da histeria, a angústia ocupa um lugar fundamental para a compreensão do psiquismo, servindo como elemento estruturante do pensamento freudiano. O objetivo desse trabalho é analisar e comparar teorias sobre a angústia desenvolvidas por Freud em duas obras metapsicológicas - Projetopara uma psicologia científica e Além do princípio do prazer -, particularmente no que diz respeito às origens e funções desempenhadas por esse afeto fundamental. Conclui-se que, embora 25 anos separem as duas obras, similaridades importantes podem ser estabelecidas entre ambas no que diz respeito à conceituação da angústia e seus desdobramentos.

ABSTRACT

Since Freud's first conceptions on the genesis of hysteria, anxiety plays a critical role for the understanding of the psychic functioning, and serves as a key element of Psychoanalytic theory. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare theories on anxiety developed by Freud in the metapsychological texts Project for a scientific psychology and Beyond the pleasure principle, particularly emphasizing his hypotheses about the origins and functions played by this fundamental affect . It is concluded that, although 25 years separate both texts, important similarities can be found between them regarding the concept of anxiety and its derivations.
