A endometriose é uma moléstia benigna que afeta de 10 a 15% das mulheres em idade reprodutiva com prevalência elevada e que promove profundas alterações no âmbito social, físico e psicológico dessas pacientes. Há muito tempo se sabe do efeito benéfico dos exercícios físicos como prevenção e mesmo como coadjuvante no tratamento de inúmeras doenças. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi identificar e analisar estudos de impacto científico que abordassem os efeitos da atividade física sobre os sintomas da endometriose. Foi realizada uma revisão da literatura nacional e internacional em bases de dados como Scielo, Lilacs, Medline, Pubmed e Medscape, Redalic, Google Acadêmico e biblioteca digital daUnicamp, com busca realizada por meio das palavras chave endometriose e exercício físico, por trabalhos publicados entre 1966 e 2009. Os resultados mostraram a necessidade de novos estudos prospectivos que relacionem os benefícios do exercício físico sobre os sintomas específicos da endometriose.
ABSTRACT
Endometriosis is a benign disease that affects 10 to 15% of women in the reproductive age, with a high prevalence, and that causes deep changes in the social, physical and psychological aspects of these patients. Since a long time the beneficial effects of exercise as prevention and even as the treatment of many diseases is known. The objective of this paper was to identify and analyze studies of scientific impact that assessed the effects of physical activity on the symptoms of endometriosis. A literature review was carried out in national and international databases, such as SciELO, Lilacs, Medline, Pubmed and Medscape, Redalice, Google Scholar and Digital Library of Unicamp, as the keywords endometriosis and exercise was employed in the search for papers published between 1966 and 2009. The results emphasize the importance of further prospective studies that correlate the benefits brought by physical exercises on the endometriosis-specific symptoms.
