ABSTRACT
Type of study retrospective, longitudinal, analitic.

Objective:

to recognize which diagnostic methods and treatment are more sensible, specific and appropriated in patient, with suspect of brain brain cysticercosis.

Results:

total of 60 patients, 53 keep the inclusion requirement. Between clinic symptoms, 34 patients (38%) report headache, 32 patients (36%) seizure syndrome, 15 patients (16%) apoplexy ictus, 5 patients (5%) endocranial hypertension syndrome. The immunologic tests represent in this way 41 patients (77%) positive (ELISA) and 12 patients (23%) negative (ELISA). The radiologic evidence was in 49 patients with computerized axial tomography (92.45%) and 4 patients with nuclear magnetic resonance (7.55%), 27 patients (51%) were treated with antiparasitic, 3 patients (6%) received surgical treatment and 23 patients (43%) received symptomatic treatment.

Conclusions:

the symptomatology, immunologic tests and image studies are very specific in the diagnostic of neurocysticercosis and the treatment should be individualized for each patient and the prognosis is very good in almost all cases.
