Perfil epidemiológico e evolução dos pacientes com câncer do colon e reto atendidos no Hospital Regional Alto Vale no ano de 2008 / Trends and epidemiological profile of patients with cancer of the colon and rectum assisted on Hospital Regional do Alto Vale/Santa Catarina state in 2008

RESUMO

O câncer colorretal é uma doença prevalente, com alta morbimortalidade quando diagnosticado tardiamente. Espera-se 52 novos casos desta patologia na região do Alto Vale para o ano de 2008. Acompanhamento dos pacientes durante o tratamento no HRAV no ano de 2008 e seguimento através de consultas ambulatoriais ou telefonemas. Os 44 pacientes deste estudo se distribuíram em 61% de mulheres e 39% de homens, com idademédia de 61 anos. Os sinais e sintomas mais frequentes foram dor abdominal, emagrecimento e hematoquezia, correspondendo a 60% das queixas. No momento do diagnóstico os doentes se encontravam no estadiamento a seguir: DUKES A(2%), DUKES B(32%), DUKES C(41%) e DUKES D(25%). A média de internação foi de 8 dias. A mortalidade no período foi de 25%. O local mais frequentemente acometido foi o cólon esquerdo. O perfil dos pacientes foi do sexo feminino, com mais de 60 anos, com estadiamento avançado, conferindo elevada mortalidade.

ABSTRACT

Colorectal cancer is a prevalent disease with high mortality when diagnosed late. It is hoped 52 new cases of this condition in the upper valley for the year 2008. Monitoring of patients during treatment in HRAV inthe year 2008 and follow-through clinic visits or telephone calls. The 44 patients in this study were distributed in 61% of women and 39% men, mean age 61 years. The signs and symptoms were more frequent abdominal pain, weight loss and hematochezia, accounting for 60% of complaints. At diagnosis the patients were in the staging as follows: DUKES A (2%), Dukes B (32%), Dukes C (41%) and DUKES D (25%). Theaverage hospital stay was 8 days. Mortality in the period was 25%. The most commonly affected site was the left colon. The profile of the patients were female, with more than 60 years, with advanced stage, giving a high mortality.
