RESUMO
Objetivo:
Analisar o conhecimento dos pais a respeitoda febre e seu tratamento nas crianças.Método:
Estudotransversal conduzido no Hospital Nossa Senhora daConceição, em Tubarão, Santa Catarina, no período demarço a maio de 2010, cuja amostra final constituiu-sede 151 crianças. Os dados foram analisados por meiodos testes de chi-quadrado e ANOVA, com nível de significânciade 95%.Resultados:
Neste estudo observou-seuma maior prevalência de crianças com idade de sessentameses, com predominância do gênero masculino.Para avaliar a febre na criança, 74,2% dos entrevistadosutilizavam o termômetro em casa, sendo que 92,7%possuem o termômetro no domicílio. Com relação àtemperatura para o início da medicação, 47,7% dosentrevistados iniciavam com temperaturas entre 37ºCe 38ºC. A maior preocupação dos pais diz respeito aorisco de convulsões febris (61,6%) e o antipirético maisutilizado para baixar a temperatura foi o paracetamol(58,3%), seguido da dipirona (33,1%) e do ibuprofeno(6%).Conclusões:
A maior prevalência de febre ocorreunas crianças com sessenta meses de idade, com predominânciado gênero masculino e o antipirético mais utilizadofoi o paracetamol. O conhecimento dos pais sobrea febre pôde ser considerado satisfatório.ABSTRACT
Objective:
The analysis of the knowledge of the parentsabout children?s fever and their treatment.Method:
A cross-sectional study was conducted at NossaSenhora da Conceição Hospital, in Tubarão, Santa Catarina,from March to May 2010, which the sample wasconstituted of 151 children. The data was analyzedusing the chi-square and ANOVA tests, with a level ofsignificance of 95%.Results:
Was observed a higherprevalence of children aged around sixty months,with a predominance of males. Most of fever analysis(74.2%) was observed using parent?s thermometer athome. It?s important to note that 92.7% of the parentshad a thermometer at home. Around forth eight percent(47.7%) of the parents started the medicationwhen the temperature was 37ºC and/or 38ºC. Thegreatest concern of parents with regard to the risk offebrile seizures was 61.6% and the most commonlymedications used were paracetamol (58.3%), or dipyrone(33.1%) and ibuprophen (6%).Conclusions:
The higher prevalence of fever occurred in childrenwith sixty months of age, predominance in males andthe antipyretic paracetamol was the most commonused. The knowledge of parents about fever was consideredacceptable.
