RESUMEN

Estudio retrospectivo que establece la frecuencia de trastornos psiquiátricos en pacientes menores de 18 años de edad, atendidos en el Instituto Nacional de Salud Mental Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi entre 1982-94. Se revisaron 3993 historias clínicas obteniéndose datos referentes a edad, sexo y diagnóstico CIE-9 de pacientes admitidos en el Departamento de Niños y Adolescentes de dicha institución. Se comparan los resultados con los informados en la literatura internacional. Finalmente, se plantea la necesidad de mayores investigaciones en este campo para facilitar las intervenciones tempranas de orden preventivo o terapéutico.

ABSTRACT

The rates of mental disorders in children and adolescentes attending the Peruvian Institute of Mental Health Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi during 1982-94 are studied. 3993 clinical records were reviewed and data related to the age, gender and ICD-9 diagnoses of the population admitted at the Children and Adolescents Department were obtained. The results were compared with those reported in the international literature. The need of more research done in this field to facilite early preventive and therapeutic interventions are pointed out.
