Objetivo. Conocer la prevalencia del síndrome metabólico en obesos de 10 a 16 años que fueron atendidos por Consultorio Externo del Servicio de Endocrinología del INSN en periodo 2005-2010 según las tablas diagnósticadas de la ATP III y la IDF.

Métodos:

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo retrospectivo decorte transversal en el periodo 2005-2010. El universo de estudio fue de 2806 con un tamaño de muestra de selección aleatoria de 319. Se siguieron los criterios diagnósticos de la ATP III y la IDF para el diagnóstico de Síndrome metabólico en población pediátrica. las variables descriptivas se expresaron en frecuencia y procentajes...

Objetive To determine the prevalence of metabolic syndromein 10 to 16 years old obese patients treated at external consult of the Endocrinology Service of INSN in 2005-2010 period according to ATP III and IDF's diagnostic criteria.

Methods:

an observational retrospective descriptive transversal study was performed in the 2005-2010 period. The population of the study was 2806 with a random selection of 319 as the sample cases.
