RESUMO
Vitreous humor is analized for iron, copper and zinc by flow injection atomic absorption spectrometry. Optimal conditions for the determination of these elements were established. The sample is injected as a discrete slug into a carrier stream of water. Standards and samples are matched in physiological concentrations of some chemical species. The effect of viscosity was studied by preparing standards in glycerol, hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate at different concentration. Glycerol was found to be more convenient for preparation of viscosity-controlled standards. Recorveries are 95 to 105 per cent. The flow injection determination of iron, copper and zinc in vitreous body is reproductible, simple and quick, can be performed using microsamples and give more precise results than conventional colorimetric
