ABSTRACT
Introduction - This research aims to determine the condylar asymmetry using cephalometric tracings called pantomograms. Methods - In this work were utilized ellipsopantomographies of 160 individuals of Japanese descent, subdivided into quinquennial groups. Results - After the analysis of the statistical data, there weren't statistically significant differences as to the condylar asymmetry index, between genders and age groups. Conclusions - We can affirm that by means of the condylar asymmetry index it's not possible to insert the individual of Japanese descent into the age group and gender which he/she belongs to.
