Análise do hábito de leitura de graduandos do curso de Enfermagem de uma universidade privada de São Paulo / Analysis of the reading habits of students of nursing from a private university in São Paulo

RESUMO

Objetivo - Avaliar o hábito de leitura de trabalhos técnicos-científicos dos alunos de graduação em Enfermagem de uma universidade privada da cidade de São Paulo-SP no ano de 2010. A leitura é um hábito indispensável para a inserção social do indivíduo e para a formação da cidadania e do profissional. Métodos - Trata-se de um estudo descritivo-exploratório, de natureza quantitativa, realizado com discentes do curso de Enfermagem de uma universidade privada de São Paulo (SP). A coleta de dados foi realizada em setembro de 2011, por meio de aplicação de um questionário semiestruturado, contendo questões sobre o hábito de leitura dos alunos. Resultados - Dos 87 participantes da pesquisa, a maioria 51 (58,62%) estava na faixa etária entre 18 e 28 anos de idade e 61 (70,11%) considerava que não realizava a leitura de livros técnico-científicos com frequência. Em relação aos artigos científicos, 54 (62,06%) descreveram que não leem trabalhos científicos com frequência. A maioria dos discentes pesquisados (56 - 64,36%) afirmou que, frequentemente, realiza a leitura literária de entretenimento, indicando que esse gênero é o preferido dos participantes. Conclusão - Os graduandos analisados não adotam a leitura de livros e artigos técnico-científicos como um hábito frequente. O desenvolvimento de novas estratégias para a conscientização dos alunos sobre a importância da leitura científica na formação profissional é uma condição urgente.

ABSTRACT

Objective - To verify the reading habits of students, evaluating the amount of books scientific articles and entertaining literature read by students of nursing from a private university in the city of São Paulo in the year 2010. Reading is a habit which is essential to the social integration of the individual and for the formation of citizenship and professional. Methods - This is a descriptive exploratory study of quantitative nature, carried out with students of nursing from a private university in São Paulo. Data collection was carried out in September, 2011, by means of a semi-structured questionnaire containing questions about the reading habits of students. Results - Of 87 survey, the majority 51 (58.62%) were aged between 18 and 28 years of age and 61 (70.11%) considered that there were the technical-scientific books read frequently. In relation to scientific articles, 54 (62.06%) reported that don't read scientific papers often. Most students surveyed (56-64.36%) stated that often performs reading of literary entertainment, indicating that this genus is the preference of the participants. Conclusion - The undergraduates analyzed do not adopt the reading of books and scientific articles as a frequent habit.The development of new strategies the students' awareness about the importance of reading scientific in vocational training is an urgent condition.
