RESUMEN
Durante el embarazo la mujer presenta una serie de cambios al igual que su hijo desarrollándose en su vientre; de allí la importancia de orientarla sobre los cuidados y cambios bucales que se presentan. Informar a la embarazada sobre cuidados bucales. Durante el periodo 2004 - 2008 en el Ambulatorio Docente del Hospital Universitario de Caracas se realizaron una charlas interactiva a 300 embarazadas en la consulta prenatal, que contempló información sobre cuidados bucales de la embarazada. Para la evaluación se elaboró un instrumento que constaba de dos partes un pre-test aplicado previamente para obtener información basal de las participantes y un post-test luego de dictar la charla para evaluar conocimientos adquiridos. Estadísticamente los resultados fueron evaluados a través de análisis de correspondencia simple (x2 de Pearson) comparando las respuestas correctas del pre-test y post-test se observó aumento entre el 60 y 100% de los conocimientos, con significancia estadística de p<0,001 para todas las variables. Los resultados demostraron que la información fue efectiva por lo que se recomienda continuar con el programa
ABSTRACT
During pregnancy women presents a series of changes as your child developing in her womb; hence the importance of guide on care and oral changes that occur in herself and her child so that their development. Inform to the pregnant women on oral care were developed oral presentations carried out in the Ambulatory of the University Hospital of Caracas. During the period 2004-2008 was carried out an interactive oral presentation with 300 pregnant women in the prenatal consultation included information on oral care of the pregnant woman and her baby. For the evaluation was prepared an instrument which consisted of two parts a pre-test previously applied for basal information of the participants and a post-test after issuing the oral presentation to assess knowledge acquired. Statistically the results were evaluated for (x 2 Pearson) simple correspondence

analysis:

comparing the correct answers pre-test and post-test increase between 60 and 100 % of knowledge, with statistical significance of p < 0,001 was observed for all variables. The results showed that the information was effective we recommended continue with the program
