RESUMEN

En los albores del nuevo siglo, se observa una demanda de educación superior sin precedentes, acompañada de una gran diversificación y una mayor toma de conciencia de la importancia fundamental que este tipo de educación reviste para el desarrollo sociocultural y económico y para la construcción del futuro sobre el cual las nuevas generaciones deben estar preparadas para asumir nuevas competencias, nuevos conocimientos y nuevas destrezas. En Educación Médica, es fundamental formar individuos con disposición constante a la búsqueda del conocimiento, lo que va a permitir el logro de una sólida formación en Ciencias Médicas Básicas y Clínicas y un amplio sentido humanista orientado por la ética y la moral cristiana, alrededor de un acendrado concepto de la dignidad humana. El propósito de las Facultades de Medicina es buscar caminos conjuntos que permitan fortalecer las capacidades de los futuros profesionales para comprender mejor su papel frente a las necesidades crecientes de la población y así contribuir con el desarrollo de los sistemas de salud.

ABSTRACT

In the early years of the new century, there is a demand of higher education never seen before, along with a great diversification and new ideas about the importance that this type of education gives to the sociocultural and economic development and to the construction of the future, on which the new generations should be prepared to assume new challenges, new knowledge and new skills. In Medical Education, it is essential to train people with constant disposition to the search of knowledge, which will allow the achievement of a solid formation in Basic and Clinic Medical Science and a wide humanistic sense guided by the ethics and the Christian moral, around an unblemished concept of the human dignity. The purpose of the Schools of medicine is search a group of ways that allow strengthening the capacity of the future professionals to understand in a better way their role against the growing necessities of the society and contribute with the development of the health systems.
